Do you enjoy working with children and animals?
Could you spare two or more weekday mornings a month to share your enthusiasm with San Francisco's
school children?
If so, the Randall Museum needs you!
Every year thousands of school children are thrilled to meet the snakes, mice, tarantulas,
toads, tortoises, hawks, owls and other live, California-native animals at the Randall Museum.
Volunteer docents make this possible! Come join in this rewarding job of introducing
City kids to wild animals.
Training can begin at almost any time, through observation of our current docents at work.
We also periodically offer an 8-week course, meeting one evening per week, covering biology,
natural history, safe animal handling, and interpretive technique. After training, docents
commit to working with visiting groups for a minimum of four hours each month for six months.
We especially need people available Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings when
visiting school groups come to our museum. This volunteer opportunity is open to adults
